CHRONICLES
In my next few entries, I shall endevour to log my lessons, experiences and feelings towards my new job as an apprentice to a food stall. I have missed about 3 days worth so i will consolidate it into one post now, and TRY to update everyday, assuming i am not too tired to do so. My job as an apprentice is to learn, and get used to the daily ins and outs of the food stall, as well as preperation of the incrediants needed. However, I have to put in about 12 hours of work EVERYDAY. Either 7AM till 7PM or 7PM to 7AM slot. For the first 2 days, i took the "Morning" shift. This is where i learnt the daily business going ons of the trade. How to prepare the food stuff, how to listen to customer's orders and the Hawker's lingo. The first 2 days was reletively easy to handle. Then came the night shift. This is REALLY the killer. Apparently i wasn't well rested enought and you have no IDEA how SLOWLY the time seem to pass when you are working the NIGHT shift. The hours just seem to DRAG ON and ON and ON. I learnt how to packet the chillie, how to cut the food stuff, how to shell eggs... the cleaning procedure. I almost couldn't take it anymore during the hours before my shift was over. But the night shift is abit more relaxed, in the sense that during the "Silent" Hours, you can practically just sit around, and talk. When i finally came home, however, i was BEAT. And the lady boss told me that i will be taking the night shift for good as she also took into consideration my coming studies. All in all, i suppose the salary she promised to give me currently is really underpaying me, for the kind of work i have to go through. HOWEVER, she did say that she will increase it should she assess that i am capable of taking up the job on a lorn term basis. Looks like i'll just have to make adjustments to my lifestyle and get used to the night routine then. Today, 14th DEC Tuesday at 7pm, i will be doing my second night shift. Wish me luck guys.
Meditating before the stress.
